My name is Felicitas Strickmann, I am 19 years old and I come from Dormagen, which is a small town between Duesseldorf and Cologne, two of the biggest cities in Germany.
In Summer 2015 I graduated from High School and decided to go abroad to have a little break between school and university. My adventure started with a 3-months-trip through Ecuador, then I came to Brazil. In March 2016 I will travel to Africa to work in another social project in Kenya. I am still quite insecure about what to study but I am sure that it will be something about politics, law, economics and Human Rights.
Due to my mother, who was an active member of ProBrasil in Germany, I already had an idea of the projects being accomplished in Brazil. Furthermore, I am really interested in Politics, especially in development assistance. Due to that reason I regard my time in Brazil as an opportunity to understand how an Organization (such as ProBrasil) can contribute and provide a sustainable development with the help of education.
How can I help?
I am sure that there are many ways to support ProBrasil’s work here in Brazil.
Just by communicating and having conversations with the children about cultural differences I hope to achieve an intercultural understanding on both sides.
I really enjoy doing all kinds of sports which I would like to share with the children. In addition to that, I would like to teach them some Spanish and show them parts of the German culture.
Finally, there is always the possibility of writing reports and taking pictures in order to provide the Brazilian and German office of ProBrasil with all the information needed.
